\n<\/span>ISMAEL MIRANDA<\/b>, the most recorded Salsa singer in the world, was born in 1950 in Puerto Rico and grew up in Manhattan\u2019s East Village. He showed an interest in music from a very young age and by the time he was eleven, he was singing and playing the congas with two juvenile groups. He recorded his first hit single, \u201cRumb\u00f3n Mel\u00f3n<\/b>\u201d, with Joey Pastrana<\/b>\u2019s Orchestra when he was 17, which led to being hired as lead singer by bandleader Larry Harlow. Together they co-authored the Latin Boogaloo album El Exigenta<\/i><\/b> (1967), and Miranda headlined the record Orquesta<\/i><\/b> Harlow Presenta a Ismael Miranda<\/i><\/b> in 1968. Over the next five years, he made seven albums with Orchestra Harlow which included many of his original compositions. Miranda also began performing and recording with the newly formed Fania All-Stars<\/b> in 1969, and as the youngest artist in the group, he was given the nickname \u201cEl ni\u00f1o bonito de la Salsa\u201d<\/i> (The pretty boy of Salsa). He sang on 17 of their albums and appeared with them in the movies \u201cOur Latin Thing\u201d (Nuestra Cosa; 1972), \u201cLive In Africa\u201d (1974) and \u201cSalsa\u201d (1976). In 1973, along with Frankie Rodriguez<\/b>, Joe Santiago<\/b>, Nicky Marrero<\/b>, Nelson Gonz\u00e1lez<\/b> and Oscar Hern\u00e1ndez<\/b> he formed his own band, the Orquesta Revelaci\u00f3n, and released the Salsa masterpiece album Asi Se Compone Un Son<\/i><\/b>. Notable Orquesta Revelaci\u00f3n album recordings include En Fa Menor<\/i><\/b> (1976), Con Mi Viejo<\/i><\/b> (1976), No Voy Al Festival<\/i><\/b> (1977) and Doble Energia<\/i><\/b> (with Willie Colon<\/b>, 1980). Several of his hit songs have attained classic status, including \u201cArsenio<\/b>\u201d, \u201cPa Brovo Yo<\/b>\u201d, \u201cSe\u00f1or Sereno<\/b>\u201d, \u201cLupe, Lupe<\/b>\u201d and \u201cSe Fue Y Me Dejo<\/b>\u201d. Even though Miranda has been singing for over 45 years, his voice has retained its resounding strength and melodious qualities. He has been honored with three GRAMMY nominations, 1 platinum\u00a0 and 8 gold albums, and countless international honors. His most recent recording, A Man and His Music: El Nino Bonito<\/i><\/b> was released in 2012. Recently Miranda has been recording and performing worldwide with the Salsa Giants<\/b> and also released in September 2014 his 41st album, Son 45<\/i><\/b>, which features collaborations with Bobby Valentin, Richie Ray<\/b> and Roberto Roena<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

INDIA<\/b> was born in 1970 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and grew up in the La Candela section of the South Bronx listening to recordings of Celia Cruz and Ella Fitzgerald. Discovered at age 15, she reached #1 on the Billboard<\/i> Dance charts with hits like \u201cLove and Happiness<\/b>.\u201d In 1992, Eddie Palmieri<\/b> came to the studio to hear her for himself. When they recorded the amazingly popular Lleg\u00f3 La India via Eddie Palmieri<\/i><\/b>, \u201cThe Princess of Salsa\u201d had arrived in the world of Latin music. In 1994 she released her record-breaking album Dicen que Soy<\/i><\/b>, which went quadruple platinum<\/b> in the US and Puerto Rico. <\/span>India soon had a string of number 1 singles on the Billboard<\/i> Tropical chart: “Nunca Voy a Olvidarte<\/b>” (1994), “Ese Hombre<\/b>” (1994), “Mi Mayor Venganza<\/b>” (1998), “Seduceme<\/b>” (2003), “Traicion<\/b>” (2003) and “Ya No Queda Nada<\/b>” (2005).<\/span> With three GRAMMY\u00ae nominations and two Latin GRAMMY nominations, India performed on Jazzin\u2019<\/i><\/b>, the hit album with Tito Puente<\/b> and the Count Basie Orchestra<\/b>, and Combinaci\u00f3n Perfecta<\/i><\/b>, featuring her duet \u201cVivir lo Nuestro<\/b>\u201d with Marc Anthony<\/b>. The 2007 Latin Billboard<\/i> Awards honored her with Best Female Tropical Album of the Year for Soy Diferente<\/i><\/b> and Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year for \u201cSolamente una Noche<\/b>.\u201d In 2010 she released her ninth studio album, Unica<\/i><\/b>, and her single \u201cEst\u00fapida<\/b>,\u201d hit #1 on the tropical Billboard<\/i> charts.<\/span> In 2011, she released \u201cTacalacateo<\/b>\u201d as a collaboration with DJ Peppe Citarella <\/b>which peaked at #13 on the Billboard <\/i>dance chart. India was a guest artist on arranger Tony Succar<\/b>\u2019s 2012 production UNITY: The Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson<\/i><\/b> and in 2014 she joined Ismael Miranda<\/b> and the Salsa Giants<\/b> to record \u201cBajo la Tormento<\/b>\u201d. She is currently working on a new album contracted to be released by Sergio George<\/b>\u2019s Top Stop Records.<\/span><\/p>\n
