NYPD 48th Precinct & Community Council Host National Night Out 2026
BRONX, NY — At this year’s National Night Out, police officers in the Bronx were still handing out tickets — raffle tickets.
This Tuesday, August 4th, the NYPD 48th Precinct and the 48th Precinct Community Council brought neighbors together at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for National Night Out 2026, the annual nationwide event that builds police-community partnerships.

As I attended and witnessed the evening, one thing was clear: “The spirit of community and connection will always be the true heart behind the badge.”
Music filled the school grounds Tuesday night as families gathered to meet officers outside of traditional enforcement settings, with a live performance by Funk Salsa Urban bringing the block to life.
National Night Out, held every first Tuesday in August, is about more than safety — it’s about trust, presence, and community.
From the 48th Precinct, it was a clear message: community policing starts with community.
